Well known Black Boy Hill business 'Kitchens' has been nominated for a top national award. Bristol West Liberal Democrat MP, Stephen Williams, has nominated the shop for Britain's best independent retailer in a competition being coordinated by the all party Parliamentary group on small shops.

Stephen visited Kitchens and met the founder, Nicole Foster. They discussed the development of the business and how it had fared during the current recession. The business was founded 40 years ago in Clifton, and now has outlets in Bath and Cardiff. Its stocks a full range of kitchenware and equipment both for the home and professional caterers.

Stephen said, "Kitchens has been a familiar sight for me at the top of Whiteladies Road ever since I came to Bristol 25 years ago. I have visited the shop on many occasions and have always been impressed by the sheer range of products available. It's good to see a local business doing so well.
