Stephen Williams MP Welcomes Unemployment Fall

Lib Dem MP for Bristol West Stephen Williams welcomes the news that unemployment in the UK has fallen by 132,000 in the last quarter (April - June) to 6.4%. This is a 437,000 fall on the year and the biggest annual fall on record.

Unemployment in Bristol West has also fallen again to 2,582 claimants.

Stephen Williams MP said:

"This is great news for Bristol and the UK. Since we started our work as part of the Coalition Government in 2010, the unemployment rate in Bristol West has fallen 24.9%. This is in stark contrast to the 55.6% increase we saw under the last Labour government."

"We are creating jobs, investing in apprenticeships, and helping people back in to work. The Lib Dems worked hard to pull this country out of recession and back onto the path of recovery. These latest figures show us that our hard work is paying off for the people of Bristol."
